Day-to-Day Itinerary : Classic Superior Holiday
DAY 1
Depart from London Heathrow for Colombo, Sri Lanka.
DAYS 2 & 3
On arrival you will meet your driver and be taken to Horathapola Coconut Estate, where you will spend the next two nights on a half board basis. A small and beautiful hotel in a peaceful and serene location, this is one the best places imaginable to relax into your holiday. It is a 1 hour drive from the airport and towards your next destination.
DAYS 4, 5 & 6
From Horothapola, you will transfer to The Cinnamon Lodge, Habarana, an ideal base for exploring the wonderful and varied sights of Sri LankaâÂÂs Cultural Triangle area. Unlike the other hotels on the tour this is a large hotel â but the grounds are delightful, the central location ideal and the quality extremely high, so we feel that all in all it is a great choice. You will stay here for three nights on a half board basis.
As well as exploring the ancient ruins and monuments of the Cultural Triangle, you will also get the opportunity to go on a safari in Minneriya National Park.
DAYS 7 & 8
The next three nights will be spent one of KandyâÂÂs institutions, Villa Rosa. Best described as a very upmarket guesthouse, it has the best views in Kandy from your breakfast table, friendly and helpful staff and large as well as comfortable and well decorated rooms. Our guests often comment on the quality of the food. It is high enough to be away from the poor air quality in Kandy town centre, but close enough to make the trip into town easy and quick. Stay here for three nights in a deluxe room with bed and breakfast.
Visit the famous Temple of the Tooth, play Golf at the Victoria Golf Course, explore the vibrant street markets and stroll around the Kandy lake. Kandy has seduced generations of visitors and continues to charm. It's rich history survives to this day.
DAYS 9 & 10
Travel up by car or train through Sri LankaâÂÂs mountainous interior to a wonderful tea estate bungalow in the hills. Experience the fresh mountain air of the southern hill country â said by locals to be the best in Sri Lanka. For the mildly intrepid, there are many great walks and activities available before returning to enjoy the stunning gardens of the The Dutch House, Bandarawela for two nights on a half board basis.
DAYS 11, 12, 13 & 14
Your chauffeur guide will drop you at Apa Villa â one of the best beach resorts in the country. With only 8 rooms it is intimate and the food is absolutely superb. It is close enough to Galle to see the sites and the sounds, with charming restaurants right around the corner. The feedback we get for this hotel is nothing short of exceptional. You will stay here for four nights.
DAY 15
This morning your chauffeur guide will return to transfer you to Colombo and your final hotel, the Galle Face Regency. The afternoon is free to explore this bustling city â we particularly recommend Pettah Market for a fun hour or so walk. For shopping enthusiasts there are great bargains to be had in Colombo too and there are many fine restaurants.
DAY 16
You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the airport to catch your return flight to London.
