Bespoke Holiday Itinerary / Experience Tour

From a two night deluxe camp in the jungle, to a fully staffed villa on the beach and all the cultural experiences we could fit in, this itinerary is a real 'once in a lifetime' family experience.

The trip starts with a couple of nights in a fantastic little hotel near the airport to ease you gently into a Sri Lanka frame of mind and leave behind the stresses of every-day life. The pace then steps up a gear through the 'cultural triangle' region of Sri Lanka and Kandy before a further few days relaxation in the hills in one of Sri Lanka's finest hotels. 

An exciting jungle camp follows (with some of the best wildlife guides in the country) before a blissful few days on the beach in a fully staffed luxury villa on one of Sri Lanka's few all-year-round swimming beaches. 

Where possible we have included family suites to keep your children close - but not too close! Depending on their ages there are plenty of different options available here. Talk to your consultant and they will be able to advice on the best set up for your family. 

Transport will be in an air conditioned mini-van with a private chauffeur/guide, which should give you the flexibility and freedom to ensure the whole family is happy. We can provide car seats for smaller children and all our vehicles have seat belts.

DAY 1

Depart from London Heathrow to Colombo, Sri Lanka.

DAYS 2 & 3

Arrive in Colombo and transfer to the Horathapola Estate - a beautiful tropical mansion offering unpretentious luxury on a working coconut estate. Perfect for a first couple of nights, this 3 bedroom hotel is romantic, peaceful and relaxing. The food is fantastic too. Nothing much to do - but you will happily pass the time exploring the estate, swimming in the pool, or lounging with a book in the gorgeous garden.

DAYS 4 & 5

Be met by your chauffeur-guide who will stay with you until dropping you at the beach. Drive to the cultural triangle and your next destination, the excellent bungalows at Wildgrass where you will stay for two nights on a half board basis. In the afternoon, visit the world heritage site of Sigiriya Rock Fortress. The following day includes a guided tour of the ancient city of Polonnaruwa and an afternoon safari in Minneriya National Park.

DAYS 6, 7 & 8

From the cultural triangle head south and up into the hill country. En-route we visit the Dambulla Cave Temples. Driving through lush tea-covered hills the windy roads take us to Tea Trails - arguably the best luxury property in the country. Combining boutique luxury with the full tea plantation experience, these 4 beautifully appointed bungalows, situated around the Castlereagh Lake in the Bogowantalawa region of Sri Lanka, offer the finest accommodation in the country. Aside from relaxing into the life of the colonial planter (minus the hard work!), there are activities available from watersports on the lake, to hiking, climbing Adam's Peak and white water rafting on the nearby Kelani River. Rates include: Accommodation, English or Sri Lankan breakfast, Lunch (packed if on excursion), Afternoon cream tea, pre-dinner cocktails, Dinner including house wine, soft drinks, local beer and house spirits. Tea & Coffee, Local Telephone calls, Laundry and bungalow circuit walks.

DAYS 9 & 10

Head south out of the mountains and down to Uda Walllawe National Park for two nights of luxury camping and exciting game drives with the experts from Kulu Safaris. Kulu Safaris bring you as close to Sri Lanka's wildlife as it is possible to be. The camping is luxury style - with a pre-set up camp site, comfy camp beds and modern flush toilet facilities as well as fine food and great service. 2 safari drives included per day with Kulu's expert wildlife guides. The Kulu guides speak English as a first language and care passionately about this environment. There are few people better equipped to guide you in this environment. All entrance and transport costs, food, drink and refreshments are included while you are in the park. Includes: accommodation, park entrance fees, game drives, all meals and snacks, local liquor, beer, house wine, soft drinks, tea & coffee, bottled water. This camping is categorised as 'luxury' camping. The tents are spacious and fitted with camp beds and there is running water and full wash facilities in camp.

DAYS 11, 12, 13 & 14

From the park drop down to the Galle area and your luxury private beach villa home for the next four nights South Point Villa. Your driver and vehicle will leave you here. The villa is fully staffed and comes with an excellent chef. The nearby beaches of Unawatuna and Mirissa have plenty of action for kids and Galle town is a great place to socialise, with its restaurants, cafes and galleries.

DAY 15

Transfer north towards the airport. Spend your last night in the excellent Wallawwa hotel. Soak up the remaining moments of your trip and savour the fine cuisine from the in-house restaurant.

DAY 16

Transfer to Colombo Airport for your return flight to London.
