Sri Lanka, Cultural Triangle
Info : Chaaya Village
Located centrally within the 'Cultural Triangle', Chaaya Village is the sister hotel of The Lodge. Sharing the large forest grounds and facilities make it one of the best value options in the region. Formerly known as 'The Village', it was recently refurbished and has been re-launched under its new name.
The hotel has 106 well-appointed rooms split into three categories - superior, deluxe and suite. All the facilities you would expect from a hotel like this are provided and the suite rooms have large living spaces and private swimming pools. In the centre of the grounds is a large swimming pool which receives a lot of shade from the trees which line the edge. A central restaurant and bar area is located between the pool and the entrance.
The activities on offer at the hotel are wide and varied: swimming, cycling, tennis, badminton, cricket and volleyball are all available. There are a number of guided treks and bird watching tours on offer.
The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed and the large open spaces contribute much to the overall sense of space and privacy. A central restaurant and bar area located between the pool and the entrance. Chaaya Village would be particularly good for families and small groups. The rates are very reasonable for the standard of accommodation provided and the location is superb for exploring the great depth of historical and wildlife sights in this area.

Comfort - This is what we would describe as our standard category. These will be decent 3/4* hotels providing a really good level of service. We would generally expect them to be providing a little something extra, whether it is character, service or excellent facilities.

Guest Comments for Chaaya Village
Chaaya Village - surprisingly very good - brilliant for families
Mike, Aug 2010
After 5 nights effectively on our own Chaaya Village was a bit of a shock to the system but it gave the kids a chance to indulge in some TV therapy. Our favourite tour in the Cultural Triangle was definitely Sigiriya. On reflection as there was so much to do in the Cultural Triangle then we probably could have benefitted from 3 nights there and only two nights at the Mudhouse - something to bear in mind for our next trip!
Nicki, July 2009
Not much to say about this after the Mudhouse! Quite frankly it was a nice hotel with all the facilities. Compared to everywhere else we stayed it was ordinary. But food was reasonable, staff were friendly and they certainly did nothing wrong in terms of our stay, which was pleasant.
