Hibiscus Garden Hotel

Info : Hibiscus Garden Hotel

Situated amidst four acres of gardens on the outskirts of Tissamaharama lies the Hibiscus Garden Hotel - a great value property ideally located for exploring Yala National Park and the other wildlife sanctuaries and cultural sites of the deep south.

The Hibiscus Garden Resort has 14 rooms split into 8 large villas. All rooms are clean and airy, with en-suite bathrooms and air-conditioning. Simple and functional, the resort is all about location and convenience, especially seeing as much of your time in the area will be spent out and about.

Tissamaharama is the gateway to the deep south on the road south from the hill country. The local area has a huge range of temples and ancient sites to discover.

Most people use Tissamaharama as a convenient staging post for a leopard and game watching safari in the majestic Yala National Park. From here it is also easy to access the beaches of the south coast.

Hibiscus Garden is an excellent value option, and the large swimming pool is a very welcome feature for a hotel of this size and price structure. The hotel also has an open-air restaurant and bar and offers guests a peaceful and tranquil setting to enjoy this stage of their Sri Lankan holiday. The views of the surrounding countryside and friendly service all add to the appeal and make the Hibiscus Garden a popular and charming option in this part of the country.

Value - This is our lead in category. There will generally be a no frills approach and while some will be characterful, some will do exactly what it says on the tin – provide a clean, comfortable and good value place to spend the night. These places are normally 3* hotels, but in areas where there is little choice or if it is a very good place, it may be what would generally be described in Asia as a 'guesthouse'.

Guest Comments for Hibiscus Garden Hotel

Hibiscus Garden was nice and the food was quite nice and quite handy for Yala, however rooms were a little basic with horrendous pillows

Hibiscus lacked the same warmth of welcome than the other resorts. It was generally fine but lacked a bit of charm.

We did enjoy our night at the Fisherman’s hut, enjoyable experience with spectacular beach to ourselves. Not exactly “roughing it” with 4 carers to hand! Although prepared under camp-site conditions, the food was so much better here than at the hotel.

The majority of the places we stayed in were outstanding - the exception was Hibiscus Gardens which while adequate but was nowhere near the standard of accommodation or service experienced in the other places
