The Kandy Cottage is a cosy little place on the edge of the Udawatakelle forest, just a short stroll or drive from the heart of Kandy town yet as far away from the bustle as you could possibly feel. Ideal for nature lovers and city dwellers alike, it offers a host of facilities at a fantastic price.

A small and discreet structure, the cottage consists of three bedrooms, a lounge and a dining area - furnished in a simple yet stylish fashion throughout.

There is one master bedroom, a second double or twin room and a family room with double bed and attached room with bunk beds. Bathrooms have hot water and are finished with polished cement and tiles. Tasteful lighting employed throughout the property with dimmer switches for extra control. The cottage has polished cement floors. There is a large dining table and separate lounge chair area in addition to the lobby and reading area. Skylight windows provide extra daylight and moonlight throughout. High-speed internet is available free of charge in all the bedrooms and the lounge. The cottage does not have AC. 

The cottage is surrounded by nature and wildlife. The Udawatakelle forest is unique in being such a diverse jungle within city limits. Flora and fauna abound and you will likely get to see much without leaving the cottage. The cottage grows a variety of fruits and spices in the garden. The roving monkeys can make this problematic and have been known to make off with underwear from the washing line on occasion. Be warned!

The Kandy Cottage is cosy and welcoming. Comfortable yet unpretentious, it offers an affordable alternative to the grander villas and private properties in the area. Great for families and small groups it would appeal to nature enthusiasts and travellers alike.

Value - This is our lead in category. There will generally be a no frills approach and while some will be characterful, some will do exactly what it says on the tin – provide a clean, comfortable and good value place to spend the night. These places are normally 3* hotels, but in areas where there is little choice or if it is a very good place, it may be what would generally be described in Asia as a 'guesthouse'.
