Maalu Maalu Resort is a luxury resort on Pasikudah's magnificent, sweeping bay.

Opened in 2010, Maalu Maalu was the first up-market hotel to open on the east coast following the end of the civil conflict.

With 52 modern rooms and suites, the resort showcases contemporary design and a range of amenities. All rooms are built into commanding wooden and concrete chalets which surround the main swimming pool.

The 32 Deluxe Rooms are the entry-level category and are on the ground floor of the chalets. These are equipped with all mod-cons including en-suite bathrooms with rain showers, lcd televisions, air-conditioning and ceiling fans. There are then 12 Deluxe Rooms With Attic, which are the same as Deluxe Rooms but with additional beds in the attic, making them ideal for families. The 4 Ocean Suites (ground floor) and 4 Panormalic Suites (upper floor) come with sea views and additional private deck areas, in-room jacuzzis and steam decks.

The Maalu Maalu Resort will appeal to anyone looking to explore the beautiful beaches of the east coast that were off-limits for so many years. From Pasikudah it is possible to visit Trincomalee and the eastern capital of Batticaloa, as well as many of the lesser-known sites of the eastern provinces.

Pasikudah Beach is famous throughout the country for the slow gradient that descends into the ocean, occasionally making it possible to wade for many hundreds of meters out to sea.

Deluxe - Deluxe hotels would have a superb level of service, very comfortable and usually spacious bedrooms, excellent food, great design and character. For us, when we visited, these places all had the 'wow factor'. A deluxe hotel should satisfy the criteria of the most discerning clients.
