Bordering the spectacular Kothmale reservoir and surrounded by mountainous tea plantations, Mas Villa is a luxurious four bedroom villa that has been converted into a stylish boutique hotel.

Less than an hour's drive from Kandy, Mas Villa is a charming and welcoming hideaway with acres of gardens to wander in and a wide range of facilities to ensure your stay is a comfortable one.

The villa now comprises three rooms on the ground floor and a master suite with great views on the second. The architecture of the villa follows a traditional 'wallawwe' style, with a beautiful open courtyard around which the downstairs rooms are located. In addition to the bedrooms there is a games room, lounge/television room, dining room and outdoor terrace with dining tables.

The manicured gardens overlook the reservoir and paddy fields below and a tennis court is due shortly. A small outdoor swimming pool is good for cooling off in the hot season. It is possible to Kayak in the reservoir and hike in the surrounding hills.

The villa looks particularly resplendent at night, as candles and soft lighting make the property glow alluringly.

Food is a mix of european and Sri Lankan and prepared to a very high standard. The staff have been carefully picked and have a wealth of experience in the hospitality trade.

Superior - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.
