The setting is a beautiful palm grove leading down to a curve in the bay, making this a beautiful place for a relaxing beach stay. The cabanas themselves are wooden and their clever hexagonal design makes them comfortable and spacious. The palm trees provide shade and the balconies are great for relaxing with a book or some music.
There is no ac and the cabanas are simple in style and design, though reasonably comfortably furnished and they have hot water.
This is not a luxurious resort by any means, but the well cooked local curries and seafood as well as the laid back friendliness of the staff, make it a favourite among return visitors to Sri Lanka. The beach is gorgeous as well as peace and secluded: a world away from the busy west coast.
Tangalle itself is a wonderful place for a beach holiday, especially in season (Dec April) when the sea is calm. There are four main stretches of beach and numerous beautiful little coves to explore along the coast. The town itself is friendly and nearby Bundalla Sanctuary is a wonderful place to see some of Sri Lankas abundant birdlife. Yala and Uda Walawa national parks are also possible on a day trip.
