Sethawadiya Dolphin View Eco Lodge is a great value property located close to the norther tip of the Kalpitiya peninsula. The area has been the source of much development interest of late but Sethawadiya have created something which really captures the spirit of the beautiful, remote and arid coastal stretch.

The property sits on the sheltered side of a lagoon, just a short swim, walk or paddle from the adjacent beach. This makes swimming possible even when the seas are rough in the off season and means a wider variety of water sports can be offered.

The accommodation is divided into four rustic cabanas, with a modern and stylish finish using polished cement but also using some of the most sustainable and eco-friendly technology available. Whilst not luxurious, the cabanas are comfortable and light with all facilities you need including en-suite bathrooms with solar-generated hot water.

The heart of the property is two-story, thatched hut which houses the restaurant and bar and provides a good hang out space to relax and meet other guests. Seafood is the speciality, with variations dependent on the local daily catch.

Activities are a real selling point. Dolphin watching will be the main attraction, and is best in the season between November and March. There is also a range of water sports including kayaking, kite-surfing, sailing and diving. Some of these will need to be pre-booked.

Sethawadaiya is approximately 3 hours drive from the international airport and Negombo. The environment is unique too, with arid dry-zone plains, salt pans, lagoon and sea all on the doorstep. The resort has some of the most cutting edge eco technologies around, with water desalination, proper recycling programs and extensive use of solar power. Please note that due to the lack of mains electricity there are no fans or air-conditioning in the rooms (they are designed to be naturally cool) and electricity is only available between 5pm and 11pm.
