Temple Tree Resort & Spa was opened in 2008 on the quiet sands of Induruwa, just south of Bentota on the west coast of the island.

Besides the attractive and unobtrusive design, Temple Tree Resort & Spa offers all the amenities you would expect from a top level hotel. The 10 spacious rooms have free internet, wide plasma screens, dvd players, huge sunken bathtubs and extremely comfortable beds. The glass fronted facade means that every room has a great sea view from almost any point. There is one excellent suite room which has a separate living room and a larger living area.

The resort has an alluring swimming pool located between the main building and the beach, surrounded by a grassy landscaped garden with palm trees and sun loungers. A small and lovely spa offers a good range of treatments and therapies. The ground floor is open plan, with a laid-back restaurant, bar and lounge area.

The resort has a reputation for excellent food and a cursory glance through the guest book shows you just how many clients have been mesmerised by the cooking of Chef Don.

Despite its obvious indulgences there is something reassuringly understated and simple about the resort. There is nothing grand or over-the-top, just a very well thought out combination of space and functionality.

The beach is excellent here too and good for swimming most of the year. There is plenty of activities and excursions locally water-sports, boat trips, temples, country walks and so on.

Superior - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.
