On a hillside south of the Sinharaja Rainforest this hotel is hand built into and around the rocky hillside and the spectacular boulders. The restaurant, serving excellent food, lies under a giant rock overhang and each room has its own particular feel and design; some with two floors, some with a series of cave like rooms and one open with the jungle light streaming in. All are built into the hillside and around the huge boulders.

The swimming pool is a large rock pool in feel, with a towering upwards view through the canopy of vegetation and the rocks to the overhangs high above.

This place would appeal hugely to people who like to be alone with nature. A place for walking, scrambling and exploring the surrounding country. While the rooms are extremely comfortable and stylishly designed, it is not for those who dislike getting their feet muddy and prefer to stay in. Leeches are often prevalent on the walks to the private caves above (though the caves themselves are cunningly furnished) and the air is extremely humid at times.

It is a wonderful and unique base for exploring the majestic Sinharaja Rainforest, with its incredible diversity of flora & fauna.
