Turtle Bay is a small boutique hotel located on the quiet sands of Kalamatiya. The area is known primarily for it's wildlife sanctuaries and abundant bird life and tourism has yet to really take off in the immediate vicinity.
The property itself is luxuriously appointed, with large, airy bedrooms with king size beds. A large swimming pool sits invitingly between the main building and the beach. The staff are extremely helpful and really go out of their way to ensure you are well looked after. The in house Ayurvedic and traditional spa also offers a range of serious treatments for healing and pampering.
Turtle Bay's location close to Tengalle on the south coast ensures that guests are treated to spectacular views of both sunrise and sunset and the deserted beaches around the hotel are great for whiling away lazy days.
Excursions in the region include Yala National Park, Kalamatiya Bird Sanctuary, Udawalawe National Park and trips to the beautiful beaches at Mirissa, Weligama and Tengalle. Turtle Bay takes it's name because thousands of endangered turtles return to the beaches of this area each year to lay their eggs. Between January and March guests are highly likely to be lucky enough to witness this incredible spectacle.
Turtle Bay is a little gem of a hotel - luxurious enough for you to feel pampered, remote enough to be a real hideaway and yet surrounded by interesting and exciting things to do. Recommended.

Turtle Bay - nice hotel but very remote and consequently the only place we could have meals. We had to eat a la carte which was very expensive. [Experience Travel: We have taken this comment on board and now strongly recommend booking on a half board basis which offers much better value.]

We thought we had died and gone to beach paradise at Turtle Bay, where the beach, hotel and staff were all fantastic.
