This tour encompasses much of the island - taking in the ancient cities, the hill country and a beach stay. Transport is with your own chauffeur-guided car, which will remain with you for most of the tour. You can be as flexible as you like and do what you want, when you want: its your holiday! We have included the main sites and all the entrances but there is much more to find and discover along the way.
The tour begins with a night close to the airport to allow you to relax and settle in. Once rested, you will be driven up to the Cultural Triangle to take in the cultural and historic sights such as Sigiriya Rock Fortress, Dambulla Cave Temples and the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, as well as a full day safari in Minneriya National Park. Moving south towards the centre of the island, you will visit the town of Kandy, including the sacred Temple of the Tooth and the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens before moving up to the Hill Country with a visit to a working tea plantation. You will round off your trip with a stay on the south coast for five nights by the beautiful white sand beaches, before a final night in Colombo and a fascinating walking tour of the historic town and its markets.
This tour includes the highlights of Sri Lanka, staying in excellent value accommodation throughout.

Day-to-Day Itinerary : Classic Value
DAY 1
Depart London Heathrow for Colombo, Sri Lanka.
DAY 2
Arrive in Colombo and meet your chauffeur-guide who will remain with you until you arrive at your beach hotel. You will be driven to Villa Kalapuwa, a quiet boutique hotel where you can recover from the long flight.
days 3 & 4
You will drive north to the Cultural Triangle, staying at MPS Village for two nights. This is a great base for the many sites we have included here in the cultural triangle. Attractions include Sigiriya Rock Fortress, Dambulla Cave Temples, the ancient city of Polonnaruwa and the beautiful Minneriya National Park. Our flexible approach allows you to do as much or as little site-seeing as you like with your experienced chauffeur/guide.
DAYS 5 & 6
Moving south towards Kandy, you will stay for two nights at the centrally located Thilanka Hotel. Overlooking the lake and the nearby Temple of the tooth, this simple hotel is a great base for exploring Sri Lankas cultural capital.. A trip to Peradeniya Botancial Gardens, along with the temple, has been included.
DAYS 7 & 8
After a stop in Nuwara Eliya you will travel through the stunning tea country to Ella by train. In Ella yo uwill stay at The Planter's Bungalow, a great value property set amongst a large tropical garden, offering peace, tranquillity and fantastic views out to the east of the country. We have also included a tour of a local working Tea factory.
DAY 9
After your time in the hills you will stay for a night at the unique eco lodge Back of Beyond - Yala, a property that allows you to experience the nature and wildlife in this area at first hand; it is also a fantastic base from which to do a safari into Yala National Park with its high leopard population.
DAYS 10, 11, 12, 13 &14
You will then descend down to the south coast for a stay at the lovely cabana-style Palm Paradise. Set amongst tropical gardens on a peaceful beach, this simple property is a great place for a few days of relaxation time.
DAY 15
Transfer back to Colombo, Sri Lanka's commercial capital, and witness the buzz of this vibrant city. A fantastic City Walk is included, which takes you through the bustling markets, the historic colonial fort, the commercial hub of the city and a stroll along the Galle Face Green as the sun sets over the ocean.
DAY 16
Transfer to Colombo airport for your return flight home.
