Aditya is one of the finest hotels in Sri Lanka, taking the boutique concept to a whole new level on this wonderful island. This is Bernard Gomez's first foray into hotel design and represents a landmark for the industry in Sri Lanka, setting a new standard that others will no doubt try to follow.
This exclusive property has five Garden Suites, six Sea View Suites and one Grand Suriya Suite. The suites themselves are, quite simply, enormous. Each one is wonderfully unique in design, but alike in being elegant and indulgent in equal measure. Each suite is equipped with a private outdoor plunge pool/jacuzzi, some with views out to sea, others overlooking the surrounding countryside - all with wicker blinds that can be lowered for privacy or shade. The sumptuous furniture is largely Balinese in origin and stands resplendently in the carefully designed and partitioned spaces. Each suite offers an expansive sense of space and an impeccable range of comforts. The attention to detail given to this hotel is unsurpassed.
The design itself is ultra-modern chic. Entering through the narrow gate and compact courtyard, the space begins to unfold a process which continues through the restaurant and lounge areas and culminates in your room. Every angle has been carefully and artfully considered. Polished concrete floors and stark white walls provide the backdrop for the elegant furnishings and fittings, while discreet colour palettes lend additional character to the airy, open design.
Considering the space available, the hotel retains a gloriously intimate feel. One is not dwarfed by the surroundings but enveloped by them. The Grand Suriya suite is the largest of all, with two floors and a private outside plunge pool and lounge area. Both floors have views out to sea, as does the bed which sits grandly on the mezzanine level.
All the rooms are adorned with striking black and white portrait pictures celebrating the diversity of the people of this island nation. The bathrooms are also unique, with each suite having both indoor and outdoor facilities as well as the private pool, interconnected by swinging wooden saloon doors.
Of course Aditya also has an excellent restaurant. The resident master chef will prepare what you feel like, when you want, and serve it wherever you chose. The menu is extensive and varied and the team will strive to cater for your every whim. The bar has a comprehensive range of wines and spirits as well as a long list of exotic cocktails. The staff at the hotel have been recruited from around the country, all with extensive experience of catering for this level of product and many of them have worked together as a team previously. Discreet and attentive, you will be truly pampered at Aditya.
The beach itself is also excellent and private. There are no other hotel developments on this beach meaning it is deserted most of the time. Perhaps the biggest challenge facing guests here is where to spend ones time - at every glance there a seductive space calling you.

Deluxe - Deluxe hotels would have a superb level of service, very comfortable and usually spacious bedrooms, excellent food, great design and character. For us, when we visited, these places all had the 'wow factor'. A deluxe hotel should satisfy the criteria of the most discerning clients.

All the hotels were lovely, each very different from other, and full of character. Aditya in particular was very special, although very empty. It deserves to be publicised and full! We went to Galle and had a drink in both the Galle fort and The Aman hotel and felt Aditya was just as special if not more so.
