Apa Villa are three distinct villas facing the sea at Thalpe, a couple of miles south of Galle. Set in a beautiful coconut grove and facing the gentle surf of the Indian Ocean, the pool is an incredible dash of blue running from the villas and pointing out to see.
The rooms can be hired individually or the two-suite villas taken as a whole. This lends a feeling of friendly calm to this personal hotel. The design is brightly tropical and contemporary with cool woods and Asian collectibles. The suites are individual and vary in size, but all are spacious and have a living room attached.
Children are very welcome here and the space entailed by the villa layout means they will feel welcome and happy and not encroach on other guests.
The sociable feel is enhanced by a central dinning option seating 12, though you may wish to dine on your own veranda or on the enchanting beach deck. Food is unsurprisingly seafood based and local dishes can be prepared. All the experience of the owner Hans Hoffer, the photographer of Insight Guides, has been put to fine use in this first rate and luxurious beachside haven.

Deluxe - Deluxe hotels would have a superb level of service, very comfortable and usually spacious bedrooms, excellent food, great design and character. For us, when we visited, these places all had the 'wow factor'. A deluxe hotel should satisfy the criteria of the most discerning clients.

Apa was good though I realize maybe a bit quiet in terms of facilities onsite. I think we would have preferred to that there be a dining room and a gym.

We had five lovely restful days at APA Villa. The hotel is beautiful, the food was delicious and the service was excellent.
