The Dutch House is a quiet, homely and private 3 bedroom villa in the cool hills surrounding Bandarawela. Built in a Cape-Dutch style, the villa is set within a beautiful two-acre flower garden and commands superb views over the cascading tea-covered hills.
The villa's 3 bedrooms sleep up to six people and offers some of the friendliest and attentive service in the region.
The villa is rented on a private basis and children under 12 are not allowed.
Facilities are top-notch. Bedrooms are light and spacious and designed with period features in keeping with the Dutch past. The owners have gone to great lengths to ensure an authentic look by using antique doors and windows, including a satinwood and ebony staircase, all reclaimed from old colonial houses in Sri Lanka. A private, indoor swimming pool makes for one of the most unique features of any property in the hills.
The food is a real part of the experience, with a superb range of Sri Lankan and western delights served to a high standard. Afternoon tea on the veranda is a lovely way to unwind after a day out exploring.
Bandarawela is famous for its healthy climate and mountain trails, and The Dutch House Bandarawela is a perfect destination for a relaxing holiday, or as a base for touring the southern Hill Country.

Deluxe - Deluxe hotels would have a superb level of service, very comfortable and usually spacious bedrooms, excellent food, great design and character. For us, when we visited, these places all had the 'wow factor'. A deluxe hotel should satisfy the criteria of the most discerning clients.
