The Lavender house is a beautifully converted 1890s estate bungalow in the heart of Sri Lankas tea growing region. Now a boutique hotel, the propertys five luxurious suites offer tasteful and luxurious accommodation amidst seven acres of landscaped gardens.
Each of the suites is unique but all are furnished to the highest standards with plenty storage space and en-suite bathrooms. Children are welcome and extra beds can be put in the rooms. The overall atmosphere of the property is very laid back, despite the level of luxury offered, with the experience being somewhere between a formal luxury hotel and a genuine home away from home.
The central dining room and lounge evoke a bygone era, with period furniture and accessories and open log fires. A glass conservatory is delightful place to take afternoon tea and take in the gardens. A billiard room lends another fun, colonial era touch. A swimming pool provides a lovely setting to relax and cool off during warmer periods.
There are lots of walks and hikes possible from the house. Local tea factories can also be toured and tasted. The other attractions of the hills are also accessible Horton Plains National Park and the various sites of Nuwara Eliya District.
Located half way between Kandy and Nuwara Eliya, the property is easier to get to from Kandy and ideal if you are not planning to head all the way through the mountains and down to the south coast.

Deluxe - Deluxe hotels would have a superb level of service, very comfortable and usually spacious bedrooms, excellent food, great design and character. For us, when we visited, these places all had the 'wow factor'. A deluxe hotel should satisfy the criteria of the most discerning clients.
