Ulagalla was opened in 2010 and has filled a huge gap in the market for truly high-end, independent resort property in the 'Cultural Triangle'. Hidden amidst 58 acres of forest, reservoirs and paddy fields, Ulugala's location is pretty spectacular to say the least and the team have made maximum use of their stunning surroundings.

Ulagalla Resort is built around an ancient mansion that has been restored to its original state, developed and furnished to retain its own distinctive character. The property borders two ancient reservoirs and the lower level of the mansion is the reception/ lobby area; it also includes a coffee lounge and fine dining restaurant on the upper floor. Ulagalla Resort consists of 25 elegantly laid out luxury chalets, all of which have huge living areas and private swimming pools. Most of the chalets overlook the reservoir while some overlook the resort's flourishing paddy fields.

The property also a boasts a 30-metre fresh water swimming pool and electric cars to shuttle guests within the vast grounds. The team of highly qualified chefs create gourmet cuisine to suit the individual needs of every guest. Recreational facilities such as horse riding, archery, billiards, kayaking and many others are available.

The resort is ideally located for exploring the ancient sites of the region. Ulagalla is located in the hamlet of Tirappane, 40 km north of Dambulla on the Dambulla - Anuradhapura road. Anuradhapura is just 20 km from the resort and it is extremely convenient to access the cultural triangle sites and other historic sites from the resort.

Ulagalla was really nice, top notch quality- I think they need to get the service right as some of their English wasn't so good and so hard to communicate. But I am sure it will become a big draw.
