It is no exaggeration that Villa Rosa has the finest views of any hotel in Kandy. For a hill city, which enjoys many famous views, this is no mean boast. From the lovely garden and patio, guests enjoy a panoramic view; the beautiful river with its washers, bathers and criss-crossing rafts; the hills and forests disappearing mistily into the horizon.
The villa itself was renovated by the owners in a crisp classical style. The Villa surrounds a garden in two parts, with a partly open middle section allowing for a free flow of cooling air to circulate. The five deluxe rooms are large and well finished with spacious individual balconies. There is an additional room for children too. Natural light is given full reign.
The staff have been well trained and offer individual service. The food is important here and international chefs were brought in to help train the local cooks. Food is prepared to taste. Local food of a very high standard is available, as is anything else of your choice, so long as fresh ingredients can be procured locally and enough notice given.
It is a personal type of place in which the owners live and enjoy talking to guests in the shared communal areas. There is no swimming pool but use of a nearby hotels pool is free and the Villa has a three-wheel to transport you the short distance.
Located far enough outside Kandy to enable you to enjoy the peace and quiet, but an easy ride to town, this is the perfect place to discover Sri Lankas cultural capital whilst relaxing and enjoying the amazing view.

Friendly villa hotel, spectacular views and friendly and efficient owner. Food and service good. We had the added benefit of having one of the principle rooms overlooking the river valley – it was hard to move away from our balcony to see Kandy and the tea estates.

The Cinnamon Lodge was just beautiful, the gardens, the monkeys and the serenity of the whole place. A well appreciated 3 days of luxury. Loved the ancient cities and climbed to the top of the Lion Rock. Saw hundreds of elephants at Minneriya park
